The Celtics entered this game with a 1-0 series lead and in search of a second straight home win to take a 2-0 lead into Quicken Loans Arena on Saturday.
Tyronn Lue learned his lesson from Game 1, and he went with a 2-big lineup to start this game.
But the third quarter belonged to the Celtics.
They don't call Terry Rozier "Scary Terry" for nothing.
So it is easy to say the Stevens coached a lot better then Lebron played as he was averaging 34 points a game in the two previous series against the Indiana Pacers and the Toronto Raptors.
42/10/12 - There were only a few positives aspects from this game, but LeBron James was definitely one of them. 7 rebounds and 9 assists in 36 of the 48 minutes of the game in Bostons 25 point 108-83 win over the Cavaliers. The Cavaliers showed more energy in Game 2 - in spurts, anyway - but were overmatched by Boston's poise.
Morris was true to his word, turning in an unbelievable performance in which he scored 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, but more importantly, forced LeBron into seven turnovers, limited him to just 15 points, a playoff low, and was a critical part of the blowout start for Boston that resulted in a 108-83 dismantling of Cleveland. But it was one of his only miscues in the first quarter.
Instead, Brad Stevens made adjustments, and the C's were able to hold him to only 20 points for the rest of the contest. All four of those threes were well defended too, either by Marcus Smart, Brown, or Horford. This is a very important game for both teams. But I can look back on this great opportunity, just playing against LeBron in the playoffs in my first year. Instead of the Celtics being discouraged by the way James dominated the first half, they were energized by being only five behind.
With the series shifting back to OH on Saturday for Game 3, the Celtics road to an 18th banner is only going to get more hard.
It was the Cavs who crossed the line from playing hard to playing risky when JR Smith shoved an already-airborne Horford in the back with 3:37 remaining in the fourth quarter, resulting in a flagrant foul 1 on Smith following a review by the officials. Things were getting chippy, but the C's kept their head on the game plan. He finished the game with 42.
He finished the opening quarter 8 of 13 from the field and 4 of 7 from the 3-point line. According to ESPN's research department, just one of James' 29 shots were uncontested. "We watched previous series and how they played; they played hard all the time, extremely well-coached".
For a squad that prides themselves on their ability to make threes, Cleveland continued to struggle once again. Cavs team-mate Kevin Love added 22 points and 15 boards. Cleveland had just 39 second-half points in the loss.
If Smith, Jeff Green, and Jordan Clarkson don't step up soon, the clock may strike twelve for LeBron and company.
Hopefully, that trend can continue. "He always finds another gear to go into".
