Robinson Cano left Seattle's game at Detroit in the third inning Sunday with a broken right hand after being hit by a pitch.

The Mariners likely won't issue a timetable for Cano until after he meets with the specialist, but if surgery is deemed necessary, the 35-year-old would likely be in store for a multi-week absence.

The Mariners said Cano was diagnosed with a fractured fifth metacarpal.

He left the game and was replaced in the lineup by infielder Andrew Romine. "I went out there trying to go as deep as I possibly can". We lose as a team.

In the other dugout, Seattle's pitchers have allowed 4.6 runs per game and its starting pitchers own a 4.87 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 8.82 K/9.

The Tigers had taken a 4-2 lead in the seventh inning, when Paxton had exited after six innings.

But Cano yelled an inning later when he tried to get out of the way of a pitch in on his hand from Tigers' pitcher Blaine Hardy, a graduate of Edmonds-Woodway High School.

Our models project Castellanos to hit.280 with 19 home runs, 56 runs, 65 RBI, and 2 stolen bases in 453 more plate appearances in 2018.

Shane Greene pitched a 1-2-3 top of the ninth inning to earn the win. Bench coach Manny Acta managed Seattle while Servais was away - with Ichiro Suzuki serving as bench coach. With two out, Gordon hit a grounder to the right side, but Jimenez mishandled the toss from first baseman John Hicks for an error, loading the bases.

The teams played a doubleheader after Friday's game was rained out, and the third and final game of the series will take place at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday at Comerica Park.

The Tigers have actually won seven of their last 10 home games, but just 4-10 in Boyd's last 14 home starts.
