Guardiola: Man Utd can still win the title

City missed the chance of sealing the league title when they lost to Manchester United 3-2 at home last week, either side of defeats by Liverpool in the Champions League.

Guardiola is not ruling out further slip ups from his side and used examples from Spanish football and the National Basketball Association to prove his point.

"Aguero is injured", Guardiola said. We can only try to focus and win at Tottenham and then Swansea, " the former Barcelona manager added.

'When I saw the pundits and the people in November, they say it's already done, it's impossible that City - if they don't lose in six months, three or four months - it's impossible for them to drop points. "Real Madrid, years ago, lost six games in a row and didn't win the league. We have to win two or win one and draw two games". We handled the pressure between the good and bad moments for the entire season, not just in this period.

Spanish media outlet Sport, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that Manchester City are set to bounce back from their European disappointment with a sensational move to sign Hazard from defending champions Chelsea FC at the end of the season.

"We tried to reach the semifinals [of the Champions League], to win the Premier League", Guardiola said.

"Of course it can happen".

"Two years ago, never before, in the National Basketball Association finals one team recovered from 3-1 down". They won three games in a row. After, we wait for the results of United but, if it does not depend on the results of United, it is in our hands.

"In football in 90 minutes you can win or lose, but we need to be more consistent through the whole season in result and performance because you need to be consistent if you are going to win".

Tomorrow they face a team in fine form, Mauricio Pochettino's side are unbeaten in the league since they were mauled 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium in December in the corresponding fixture.

Nonetheless, Guardiola hopes City will handle the pressure. "Of course, I think he would like to be there, but it doesn't change his life too much, I think".

Meanwhile, Guardiola revealed that City had backed the introduction of Video Assistant Referees (VAR) despite it being rejected by the Premier League.

"So we have six games".

Aguero had been out for a month prior to last week's Manchester derby, in which he emerged from the bench and appeared to be fouled by Manchester United's Ashley Young late on - only for referee Martin Atkinson to wave away penalty appeals. You have to understand that when [Mohamed] Salah scores his goal it is not a physical reaction [it's mental]. "They are human beings and they are disappointed because they gave it everything".

- Cesar Azpilicueta and Alvaro Morata have now combined for seven Premier League goals this season - in only one previous season have two Chelsea players combined for more (Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba in 2005-06, 8). The condition for itself I think doesn't exist.

"We have 14 players plus the kids".
