Spyro Reignited Trilogy will be released exclusively for PlayStation 4 on September 21st, 2018 with other platforms rumoured to be receiving the game including the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. Players can expect "improved environments, updated controls, brand-new lighting and recreated cinematics for added flavor in this one-of-a-kind adventure".

Along with faithful recreations of the original Spyro games, the trilogy includes a new score reimagined off of the original Stewart Copeland composition.

"We're deeply passionate about staying true to the legacy of the original three Spyro games with the Spyro Reignited Trilogy", said Paul Yan, Chief Creative Officer, at Toys For Bob. Over 20 million copies of the franchise's thirteen games have been sold over the years, but we haven't heard much from our favorite dragon since the last game released in 2008. Are any of you looking forward to the Spyro Reignited Trilogy?

Rumors of the Spyro the Dragon collection first surfaced on Gematsu back in February.

The game's cover image was also spotted on the dormant Spyro website. Players can apparently enter the infamous cheat code, up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, square, while on the main menu of Crash Bandicoot Warped to watch a hidden trailer for the upcoming video game collection.

The games got a lot of leaked screenshots before the announcement, showing off how the game's graphics would look in the new engine.

Each level in Spyro Reignited Trilogy will be mapped faithfully from the originals. This is the same studio that developed Skylanders for Activision, and is also now working on Crash Bandicoot for the Nintendo Switch. Activision also promises "full analog stick support and smooth camera handling" so this will be a very smooth and modernized version of the classic platformers. First, a handful of game outlets such as IGN received scaly purple eggs in the mail with a note stating "Something's about to hatch" signed by "Falcon McBob".

Alongside MediEvil and Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon was a hugely popular game and has been missed by fans. What's more is, the listings suggest a Spyro Reignited Trilogy release date of September 21.
