LG displays are said to be making their way to this year's iPhone X Plus devices.

According to a report by a senior analyst at Digitimes Research, Apple's vendor has managed to reduce the 5.85-inch iPhone X's initial manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM) to a level much lower than that of its present flagship model.

Lin said the next 5.85-inch OLED iPhone could be the cheapest of the three upcoming iPhones also because some of the phone's recent engineering samples have adopted components with low-level specifications and lower capacities than those on the bigger 6.5-inch and 6.1-inch models. In addition to a direct follow-up to the iPhone X, complete with a 5.8-inch OLED screen and identical design, Apple is said to be planning a 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus model. This is to avoid the same low yield in 3D sensors that caused delays in the launch and availability of the iPhone X.

Citing cost concerns, Apple initially expected the 5.85-inch model to use an LCD, than the more expensive OLED.

Apple has changed the name of "Books" in the fourth beta release of iOS 11.3, reverting the name of the iPhone and iPad e-reader app back to its former identity of iBooks after just over a month.

The stock prices of rival display makers such as Japan Display, Sharp, and Samsung all fell after Bloomberg reported Apple's screen development initiative. A new report is claiming that Apple will enter trial production of its 2018 iPhones in the second quarter. That iPhone is not the one being mentioned in the report by the analyst since that one is rumored to have a 6.5-inch edge to edge display. While the display on the iPhone X is extremely color accurate, it's still not quite flawless. Considering that the iPhone X costs around $400 to make, that equates to about $40 in savings.

Here are three ways that Apple could improve upon the iPhone X's display.

At the moment, the iPhone X is available in two colors - silver and space gray.

Some details of iPhone SE 2 have been leaked, which seem to be at variance with the earlier rumors about this budget handset from the Apple.

Due to this cost reduction Apple fans can definitely expect a price drop from the massive $999 of the iPhone X for the upcoming 5.8-inch iPhone model.
