Rumor: Dragon Ball FighterZ Could Have Dreaded Loot Boxes

However, there seems to be more to it than what the screenshot actually shows.

From the looks of the image, it seems that Android 21 is also from the same race as Maijin Boo, which makes this character even more interesting, as I honestly thought she was going to just be "another" boring Android to be added to the Dragon Ball universe.

These "loot boxes", called Z Capsules, contain customizable clothing for your avatar and lobby titles.

Dragon Ball FighterZ now has a total of 24 playable characters. Instead of cosmetic items, loot boxes were used in order to gain an advantage over other players when playing the game's online multiplayer mode.

Right now, it's unclear whether there's going to be an option to purchase Premium Coins or another type of currency in the game, or whether this is all self-contained with the game itself.

News of the loot boxes first emerged on the Reset Era forums, where a player explained how they had obtained skins for their in-game items from loot boxes.

Regardless, Bandai Namco should likely reveal what economy systems are in the game if they want to quell some fears from people who've dealt with bad loot box systems over the past year as they've become more prevalent and predatory. Players also have the option of purchasing Source Crystals from their console's store for real-world money.

"Greetings DRAGON BALL FighterZ, As promised, we are back with info on an additional open beta test with improvements to the experience".

Dragon Ball Fighter Z will officially launch on January 26 on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Steam, and the 2D fighting game already has fans of the media franchise very excited. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
