"People can continue using WhatsApp as usual - there's no need to download anything new", WhatsApp added.

AFTER much anticipation, WhatsApp has finally launched its very own business app in select markets including Indonesia, Italy, the United Kingdom and the US.

WhatsApp's promising to spread availability of its Business app to more countries in the coming weeks.

WhatsApp will also distinguish "business" accounts from personal accounts on the default app. When Facebook had bought WhatsApp for $16 billion back in 2014, its massive user-base was a valuable commodity for Facebook. The WhatsApp Business app also has Messaging Statistics to help users review simple metrics like number of messages read. That said, WhatsApp Business is also accessible through WhatsApp Web, and, for those unaware, it is actually a standalone app which means you can have both regular WhatsApp as well as WhatsApp Business on the same phone.

You can download WhatsApp Business via the Play Store.

Facebook already allows businesses to create a page on its own platform which helps them communicate better with their customers.

WhatsApp for Business is a separate app from the traditional WhatsApp messenger.

The free-to-download Android app allows businesses to quickly respond to customers as well as provide them with away messages, letting them know when the business is busy. The Play Store link of the app is available in the source below.

Nothing. For now the WhatsApp Business app is free for all SMEs.

They can also message customers, send them updates and answer any questions they have. "And people will continue to have full control over the messages they receive, with the ability to block any number, including businesses, as well as report spam", said WhatsApp in its blog post. There's been no confirmation of whether or not an iOS version of the app is being produced.

The app is now only available on Android and is free to download.

The business accounts will be clearly identifiable, so the consumers know that they are interacting with a business account.
