Jacob Eason Announces Transfer

"Thank you UGA for an incredible two years", Eason said in his Tweet.

Quarterback Jacob Eason announced Friday that he will transfer from the University of Georgia. He didn't specified where he will transfer.

The former five-star quarterback has been tabbed as a possible transfer since Jake Fromm took over the starting job for Georgia in Week 2 and never relinquished the role. Jake Browning, the 2016 Pac-12 offensive player of the year, will return to the Huskies for his senior season as the undisputed starting quarterback.

Eason then started the 2017 opener against Appalachian State, but he suffered a knee injury that knocked him out of the game. True freshman quarterback stepped in and remained the team's starter through Georgia's loss to Alabama in the national championship. Eason, who started for the Bulldogs in 2016, spent the season as Fromm's backup when he got healthy.

This does not come as a surprise based on a series of events that seems likely to push Eason back to third string next season. He didn't; he stuck it out until the end, and the video below captures the lovely moment at the end of the National Championship Game where Eason waited for Fromm in the tunnel and put his arm around him.

"Going to sit down with my family and figure that out", he told the Seattle Times' Stefanie Loh in Atlanta. That forces Eason to transfer in order to find playing time.

Jacob Eason is officially leaving the UGA football program. Despite the unfortunate circumstances, he really bonded with Fromm and worked hard to help him prepare for the games.

While no official decision is made, Georgia is looking crowded and Washington may need a quarterback for the 2019 season. I did the best thing I thought I could do: be there for Jake.
