Former aide to Hillary Clinton, Huma Abedin, and her now jailed husband, Anthony Weiner, have withdrawn their divorce case from a NY court. Instead, her attorney submitted a request, signed by both Abedin and Weiner, to end the pending divorce case.

"In order to ensure the proceedings have a minimal impact on their child, the parties have chose to finalize their divorce swiftly and privately", her attorney Charles Miller said.

Abedin, a top Hillary Clinton aide, filed for divorce last May after her estranged husband pleaded guilty. "During this hard time, I ask for respect for our privacy".

Abedin filed for divorce last May just hours after Weiner, a former NY congressman, pleaded guilty to sexting with a minor, a crime for which he is now serving two years behind bars in a MA federal prison. The former politician reported to jail to begin his sentence in early November.

The couple has a 6-year-old son. "I am so deeply sorry for the harm I have done to her, and I live with the sorrow that I will never be able to fix that".

Ms Abedin stood by her husband after a graphic image sent from his Twitter account went public in June 2011, causing Weiner to step down from Congress.
