It was more than just a normal Sunday afternoon touchdown for Marquise Goodwin.

He wrote, in part, that he and his wife, Morgan, lost their baby on Sunday morning, around 4 a.m. due to complications; he had to be delivered prematurely.

"Unfortunately we lost our baby boy due to some complications, and had to prematurely deliver him early this morning around 4am", Goodwin wrote in an Instagram post.

As you can see in the video below on the touchdown play, Goodwin caught the deep pass from Beathard and avoided the tackle of Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins, blowing a kiss to the sky before crossing the goal line. "The pain (physically, mentally, & emotionally) that she was endured is unbelievable", he continued.

The 49ers earned their first win of 2017 on Sunday, defeating the Giants, 31-21.

Current and former National Football League players shared their sadness at the news and sent condolences to the Goodwins.

Both Goodwin and Goodwin-Snow are career athletes; they were stars on the track team at the University of Texas at Austin.

In a lengthy post of her own on Instagram, Goodwin-Snow said, "This whole week has taken an emotional toll on my husband and I, struggling to keep our healthy baby safe in my womb".

Prayers to Marquise Goodwin, his wife, Morgan, and their entire family for their tragic loss.

"I just wanna thank those who've genuinely prayed for [wife Morgan Goodwin] & myself throughout this pregnancy", Goodwin began.
